Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment with new affixes. They can also boost the base stats of the item or provide additional benefits. To upgrade an item, a player has to have it in their inventory as well as access to the kiln.

Typically items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, while objects with strong bases, such as Eth titans don't change significantly in their stats after being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor, trinkets and gathering tools, providing an added bonus or effect when the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, or found in loot, dropped by enemies, or obtained as a reward from missions or chests. Certain upgrades can also be equipped with special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a specific level to upgrade.
To upgrade a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player will have to select it and then click the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will show a preview on the right side of the screen that shows what the expected upgrade statistics will be, as well as the required material or component needed to make that happen.
There are three types: universal upgrades (which include gems), prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, such as gems, are able to be used on any kind of equipment. They offer a lesser bonus than upgrade components that have a type limitation. Infusions are gems that can only be used in legendary and ascended equipment. They provide the same bonuses as jewels, however they cannot be used with any other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add the suffix to the end of item names. For example adding the suffix Glyph could transform a staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If the player upgrades their gathering tool, and then replaces the glyphs by a different one the old one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace any other upgrade component with a glyph, it will be destroyed, with the exception for inscriptions, which can be swapped freely.
Leveling
Path of Exile's upgrade process is different from previous versions in several key ways. Gear is now broken down into tracks, and items can only be upgraded a specific number of times before being "leveled out." The cost for upgrades increases with each level up however the materials required don't increase as much. This lets players focus their efforts on a few important items to maximize their impact rather than spreading out the upgrade costs across multiple pieces.
This allows the item to receive new upgrade components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is called the Artisan's Energy. It resets at 0 if the upgrade fails or increases when the upgrade succeeds.
Once a piece is upgraded to its highest level it can be eligible to receive affixes that will enhance its capabilities. The number of affixes that are available is contingent on the item's base. For instance an uncommon or unique weapon that has a standard base will only have two affixes. A legend armor will have eight affixes.
Each upgrade will require an amount of Flightstones and crests to complete based on the item's current level and the slot it's in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If item upgrader is not able to attain its maximum level The NPC will offer the player the option to transfer it to a different character and then re-infuse it with another set of upgrades. This procedure can take as long as two hours and will cost the same amount of materials. However it has a lower success rate.
To determine the height of a building, engineers will utilize an instrument to compare the measurement against an established reference point, like a benchmark, or the elevation of the ground. This is referred to as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings using the backsight rod and the level, then turning the level and making the foresight rod reading. This method guarantees that structures are built to an extremely high degree of precision and security.
Rerolling
Rerolling refers to the process of changing an item's upgrade components. It is a crucial aspect of the game and can dramatically increase the strength of an item and damage as well as other characteristics. You can do this through the item menu or by pressing the Reroll button whenever you upgrade an item. Rerolling can be expensive and should only be used in the rarest of circumstances.
The game lets players recycle upgraded items, and use them to obtain reroll tokens. These tokens can then be used to upgrade the original item or an item of the same type. Recyclable items have a level gauge that shows how much of the upgrade gauge has been filled. The rarity and the cost of upgrading an item determines the amount of level that has been filled.
In the past, certain upgrade items were affixed with priority that made them easier to roll for than others. This meant that you'd get the stats that mattered most to your build more often than others. This included things like the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This has changed since the last patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same chance of rolling for every stat. This could be good or bad, based on what you're looking to get from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can also come with a bonus that increases the power of the item by a specific percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are added to the normal affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the better chances of obtaining a unique bonus.
The game also features several sets, which give a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are equipped on the same unit. This is an excellent method to add lots of power to a particular character without spending a lot of money.
Many players have the habit of rerolling their weapons and gear particularly in the initial stages. Rerolling is a method to get a more powerful character quicker, which enables players to advance in the game and achieve higher tiers.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be arranged differently. They can have different sizes, have no elements at all, or contain a single element. They can be used for organizing data or sorting information. They can also be used to analyze patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways such as size and shape.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom offers an extensive selection of upgradeable set items. Some are worth upgrading, while others aren't. Armor sets that provide high defense or set bonuses are generally worth upgrading. However, most upgrades to weapons do not boost the item's stats much in comparison to their purple counterparts. This makes them less attractive to upgrade in the event that your collection of armor and weapons pieces is already large.
Set items can be upgraded to include unique functions that are beneficial for specific builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are two examples of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement were increased as well).
Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them up to the same level with their tiers. The Immortal King Set, for instance, is a huge range of levels, from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower-level items of the set can boost their defense and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.
To determine if an item is worth upgrading, players should click the Upgrade button in the character screen. The item's attributes will be displayed as well as any necessary items. To upgrade the No-mouth face for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Alternately, players can go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to see the upgrade requirements for specific items.
In general, weapons and jewelry offer more value for trade when they are fully upgraded than armor. Particularly for weapons with damage glyphs that are spell-like or weapon-related, upgrading them to gold is recommended because it will give a substantial increase in their power. Weapons with an upgraded appearance will benefit from this upgrade, since its defense value will increase as it goes from purple to gold.
